Okinawa: A Tropical Getaway in Japan
Okinawa is a tropical island on the south of Japan. It definitely has it's charm and it's completely different from the other cities that I have visited in Japan (i.e. Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka). It was one of my favorite trips this year, because we rented a cute compact Japanese car and went exploring the island for four days. This gave us the flexibility to see different ares of Okinawa at our own pace (you need a international driver license). Four days was plenty of time for ship wreck diving, eating copious amount of food, and sight seeing. If you're looking to plan a trip to Okinawa, here's my top five favorite things to do or eat!
Top Five Things to Do or Eat:
1). Ship Wreck Diving - we booked our dives with Piranha Divers Okinawa. Diving in Okinawa is not cheap ($100 USD per dive) and you need an Advance Scuba License because you will dive down to 30 meters plus.
2). American Village - it's a great spot to walk around and check out cute cafe/restaurants by the beach. Make sure to visit the Tacos Cafe Taco Loco for some surprisingly delicious tacos!
3). 大左衛門 - This was our favorite sushi spot. Everything was super fresh and affordable.

4). Kouri Island - Beautiful drive over the bridge during sunset. Make sure to stop by ガジュマルロック. It's a super cute cafe with hammocks.

5). Dino Park - great spot to buy lots of Japanese snacks including Beni Imo cakes (Japanese sweet potato). Definitely get yourself some Blue Seal ice cream while you're there. It was heavenly.
